Challenge

Reclaim a 19th century work cottage to serve as 450 square feet of guest house, yoga studio, barbeque kitchen and man cave, preserving as much of the existing layout as possible.

Solution

• Replace large vintage heater with compact, efficient furnace installed in the crawl space below the main room
• Reorganize existing kitchen and reduce to galley footprint
• Retain original bathroom fixtures and update lighting
• New bathroom mirror, shelves, towel bars and custom shower curtain
• Replace front windows and doors with folding door system that opens the front wall to a custom-designed stepped deck
• Landscaped garden includes a modern wooden fence and slatted canopy that create an entry portal
